One of my goals in 2011 was to participate in 3 Creative Studios' Journal Quilt Challenge. Vicki Welsh of 3CS made it so easy to participate. No rules other than the ones we set for ourselves. My goal was to do 1 journal quilt per month, and to use some of my own hand dyed fabric.
Mission accomplished!
Nice job Michelle and a laudable goal. I had one similar to that several years ago and it went by the wayside. I think I will try to start that again. One small quilt per month that elicits a them would be a good way to make sure that something creative is always going on. Let me think on that and get back to all of you........ It might be a good challenge for our on-line group.
ReplyDeleteI was amazed to see that some of these journal quilts started out in my sketchbook, but took on whole other life in fiber and stitch. I didn't expect that--somehow I had it in my mind that the sketchbook challenge sketchbook was a different medium and never the two should meet. But they came together beautifully!
ReplyDeleteSmall quilts are do-able and finish-able, and a great way to try new techniques without a huge commitment. I highly recommend this practice.
